Bear Lake Endowment Fund

The Bear Lake Watershed Alliance (BLWA) established an endowment fund in late 2013 to augment fundraisers and dues that support operations necessary to help achieve it’s mission to protect and enhance the Bear Lake Watershed.  Hopefully, the endowment fund will grow significantly over future years assuring that all that needs to be done, can be done. The Manistee County Community Foundation (MCCF) will be receiving and investing the endowment funds for the BLWA.

The $5,000 required to initiate the endowment fund was generated by ten families that each purchased a $500 lifetime family membership in the Bear Lake Watershed Alliance.  Now that the endowment fund has been established, there is no minimum requirement. Future gifts can be made in any denomination. Donations can be made in cash, stocks, life insurance or real estate.

The Bear Lake Watershed Alliance Endowment Fund may be an option for memorials to a loved one.  Or a gift to the fund may be made to honor a person who continues to devote time and talent to the preservation of Bear Lake. Gifts can also be a vehicle for planned giving or estate planning.

Individuals, families, businesses and organizations can contribute to the endowment.  Gifts are 100% tax deductible as the MCCF has a 501 C-3 federal tax exempt status.

Those who are currently annual members paying $20 per year, may want to gift $500 to the endowment fund to convert to a family lifetime membership. Download the Membership Form by clicking on the link below.
